An exquisitely produced trade binding at the very pinnacle of the craft. In a hefty, 8 x 11 inch near folio binding, full large pebble morocco, raised bands, six compartments tooled with fleur de lis that are then complimented on the board panels. Boards thick and bevelled. All edges gild and gauffered with a charm hex hatch pattern. Pastedowns laid and tooled and fine marbled endpapers. 

The whole is also is lavisly illustrated by some of the finest illustrators of the time. A lovely Victorian edition at the height of its influence. The Victorian evangelical library had at its core three titles: The Bible, Pilgrim's Progress, and Foxe. An heirloom worthy example.

Notes and appendix, interestingly enough, by William Bramley-Moore, one of the "angels" in the Irvingite, or Catholic Apostolic Church.
