 Hi red Ammania, this plant belongs to family Lythraceae. It is originated from tropical and subtropical Africa. With its vertical growth pattern, Amania senegalensis can be used as foreground or midground plant. It can attain a maximum height of 50 cm, therefore, requires regular trimming to keep the height as per the requirements. The beautiful leaves and thick stem makes it one of the preferred aquatic plants among the aquarists. It is easy to care and not much demanding. To get the best accent, you can plant Hi red Ammania in lose groups at the back of the aquarium. It can give a beautiful contrast to the light green leaves of other aquatic plants.

Appearance: The leaves of Hi red Ammania are lanceolate, curving in a downward fashion, forming an arch-like shape. The maximum length they can reach is 4 cm and gets a relatively darker color on the underside. It shows the best growth when strong lightening conditions are provided along with nutrient-rich soil. A gravelly subsoil is considered ideal for the plant to thrive well and flourish in the tank. With a medium growth rate and it can easily attain height between 40 to 50 cm and therefore great as a mid or background plant.

Hard/soft Plant: It is a soft plant.

Ideal water temperature: The ideal water temperate requirement ranges from 20 to 28˚C.

Lightening conditions: The plant requires strong lightening conditions to show the true colors and give a great accent to the tank. Along with it, a gravel substrate rich in nutrients and soft water enriched with carbon dioxide brings the best of Hi red Ammania.

Ideal pH level: pH between the range of 6 to 7 is perfect for Amania senegalensis.
