This spur is similar to one illustrated in Charles de Lacy's "The History of the Spur". In the book it is described as "For Bucket boot, early eighteenth century, Mr Redfern's Collection".
It has a six pointed rowel which has fused into position. The short neck is curved.
The sides of the spur are straight, they terminate in single loops, one in line with the arm of the spur and the other perpendicular to its arm. This arrangement of terminals can be seen in examples of spurs from the 13th to the 18th centuries.
