Handwoven vintage Persian rug

Handwoven wool low pile Persian rug. Measures 5’6”x2’11”. Features two central diamond medallions and and a double border. Shows tribal evil eye motifs. This rug has a field of reddish terracotta with hints of light blue, indigo and chartreuse. The rug is in good vintage condition.

The concept of the evil eye dates back thousands of years and is prevalent in many ancient civilizations, including Greek, Roman, and Mesopotamian cultures. In textiles and rugs, evil eye motifs are used both for their protective properties and their aesthetic appeal.
