A very smart copy of the primary biography of the anti-Finney old-school Presbyterian prototype of the doctrinally-centered revivalist. The text is both pietistically positive, providing positive examples of the gospel-results of doctrinal preaching for revival and in an aversion of the "new measures" of Finney, Burchard, etc., and negative examples of the opposite.
