Very rare imprint of Baxter's most controversial work, which he made provision for to be published after his death. Opposing nearly all puritan theologians, he argued that some sense of justification of faith by works was to be integrated into a biblical view of salvation. This resonated strongly with Wesley's theology. Scarce. Originally published in 1745.
Wesley, John. [Richard Baxter]. An Extract of Mr. Richard Baxter's Aphorisms of Justification. Third Edition. London. Printed by J. Paramore, at the Foundry, Moorfields: And sold at the New Chapel, City-Road; and at the Rev. Mr. Wesley's Preaching-Houses in Town and Country. 1784. 40pp.
Textually complete, this unusual early Methodist work has been removed from a larger sammelband; remainder of binding and some tears and abrasions at spine; corners rounded, some handling as shown. Textually complete and very usable. Weakened and could stand being stitched.
