Setting the piston clearance is very important in a 2-stroke engine where piston cooling is difficult. As the tune progresses, the amount of heat generated increases, causing seizure due to overheating. In order to prevent this, we created a wide piston clearance, but the dilemma was that it would inevitably produce a rattling noise. We apply a molybdenum coating developed to solve this dilemma. Recently, it has been adopted as a genuine piston for high-performance engines. We have adopted Dry Coat 3500, which contains molybdenum and PTFE, which is the most durable among molybdenum coatings. At our store, we have successfully doubled the thickness by coating the cylinder as well, whereas originally only the piston would be coated. This allows them to rub against each other, creating a level of uniform piston clearance that cannot be achieved with machining. Tuned vehicles that have already been treated with cylinder coating have been very well received for their sense of security against overheating, even during long touring on expressways. How to apply dry film coats has a high compression rate immediately after assembly, but as it blends in, the compression rate decreases. After the adjustment, the secondary compression will need to be readjusted. At the beginning of the engine, the clearance is extremely narrow, so start with low compression and do not run immediately, but let it idle for about an hour. When idling, setting the heat value of the plug to #6 will prevent it from fogging. After that, please drive respectfully at first. The trick to driving smoothly is to apply a high load for short periods of time. If the coating has peeled off cleanly after driving about 300km, it is finished.
