A desirable imprint of the speech made by Samuel Galloway of Ohio, in the House of Representatives on March 17, 1856. Galloway became well-known for his opposition to slavery's expansion in the Kansas Territory.
He writes: "The past misfortunes and the present perils of the people of Kansas have produced throughout our country and unusual and profound excitement- not a mere ripple on the surface, but a groundswell of the national heart."
The last page of the pamphlet includes a fascinating list of Documents Published by the Republican Association of Washington, which can be had cheap for distribution, etc.,
