Adult FA / Adult Infant Child CPR AED Certification [3Hr. 15Min.] Classroom

This certification teaches the essential skills needed to respond to cardiac emergencies for both adults and children, including performing CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) and using an AED (Automated External Defibrillator). 

Key Components of the Course:

1. **Adult CPR**:
   - **Recognizing a Cardiac Emergency**: Understanding how to identify if an adult is having a heart attack or is unresponsive.
   - **Chest Compressions**: Proper technique for performing chest compressions at a depth of at least 2 inches at a rate of 100–120 compressions per minute.
   - **Rescue Breaths**: How to give effective rescue breaths using a barrier device.
   - **CPR for Unresponsive Adults**: When to perform CPR and how to assess the situation.
   - **Hands-Only CPR**: For situations where giving rescue breaths is not possible, emphasizing high-quality chest compressions.

2. **Child CPR (Pediatric CPR)**:
   - **Differences Between Adult and Child CPR**: Recognizing the differences in anatomy and technique.
   - **Infant CPR**: The correct method for performing CPR on infants under 1 year old, including two-finger compressions and gentle rescue breaths.
   - **Rescue Breathing for Children**: Proper ventilation techniques and when to use a mask or mouth-to-mouth breathing.

3. **AED Use**:
   - **What is an AED**: The purpose of an AED in restoring normal heart rhythm after a sudden cardiac arrest.
   - **How to Use an AED**: Proper placement of the AED pads on the chest, following the prompts given by the AED, and when to administer a shock.
   - **AED and CPR**: How to integrate AED use with CPR to maximize the chances of survival.

Certification Process:
- **Duration**: The course typically takes around 3 to 5 hours, depending on whether it's for adults, pediatric care, or both.
- **Renewal**: Certification usually lasts 2 years, after which you’ll need to take a refresher course to stay up to date.
