Very interesting work on history, dealing specifically with Charles Darwin and Organic Evolution at points, by one of Presbyterianism's most influential theologians of the period. Surprisingly, it was really only Charles Hodge who was strictly opposed to the then-new theory of "origins." James McCosh, Shedd, and even Warfield were defenders of the idea's potential consistency with Scripture, should it prove to be scientifically sound. McCosh is on record as a theistic evolutionist.
Shedd, William G.T. Lectures Upon the Philosophy of History. Andover Warren F. Draper. 1869. 128pp.
A good+ copy, bound in cloth, very solid, bright pages with light foxing.
