There are at least two varieties [in differing metals] of mourning medallions produced at the death of Spurgeon. There is the more common watch fob version, produced in white medal and something approximating bronze, which is a wonderful little find in good condition. Far rarer is the fine bronze version. It is an actual fine production, executed by T Pinches, whose medallions can fetch thousands of dollars on today's auction market. This one, created, 1892 at Spurgeon's death is actually likely by his son, John Pinches, d.1905.
Measures 1.65 inches in diameter; very good condition with some rubbing at extremities and light dings at rim. An excellent example of a rare medallion.
