Superb work of practical and spiritual divinity by one of the founders of the Clapham Sect. Venn [1725-1797] was awakened in to Evangelicalism at roughly the same period as Wesley and Whitefield, also by reading William Law's Serious Call. From that time forward, he aligned with the Evangelical revivalism of his friends William Grimshaw of Haworth, etc.
His son, John Venn, was also a part of the Clapham Sect, pastor to William Wilberforce, and together they worked toward the abolition of slavery.
