3M™ Curos Disinfecting Caps

Curos disinfecting port protectors are alcohol-containing caps that twist onto I.V. access points for disinfection and protection. The disinfecting caps are suitable for efficient prevention of intraluminal bloodstream infections and serve as a barrier to contamination from catheter-related infections. The caps disinfect the distal end of IV tubing and protect against contamination with microorganisms such as Staph. aureus, Staph. epidermidis or even Candida albicans.

The screw-on disinfecting caps are easy to use and disinfect in just 1 minute using 70% isopropanol. Leaving the cap on provides a physical barrier to contamination between accesses for up to 7 days. The Curos disinfecting caps provide several advantages over traditional standard of care port disinfection methods; convenient dosage form, distinctive colouring and no scrub the hub protocol required. In addition, accesses that have already been disinfected can be quickly identified and compliance with disinfection regulations is facilitated. All these factors save nursing staff valuable time.
