A fascinating sermon first preached in 1776 by John Fletcher at the onset of the American Revolution. In it, he grants Price's argument that the American Colonies are people of greater prayer and personal piety than those of England. That, Fletcher asserts, is all the more shameful in that the Americans are still wrong and England still correct. Fletcher calls for a national repentance; that their soldiers be sent with prayer, fasting, and repentance. That they engage militarily, but this should be assisted by the intercession of the British people that God's will might be done and the American rebellion quashed.
