Fascinating sermon by one of the best preachers of the Puritan era. His exposition of Hebrews is still in use, but in his time he was famed for his intensely practical teaching on the Christian family and life. 

Here, Gouge, a pronounced Presbyterian informed by his postmillennialism, sees the new "Covenanted" Three Kingdoms as a stand-in for national Israel and applies the promises of God for increasing national prosperity to the political and economic structure the Presbyterians had put in place between Cromwell, Parliament, and the Westminster Assembly. It's an excellent sermon on God's redemptive purpose, but, to our mind, sullied by the conflation of worldly structures of power with the Kingdom.
