Lovely little piece of Spurgeonalia. A 1918 World War 1 era letter to Rev. James Archer Spurgeon, son of James Archer Spurgeon, co-pastor at the Metropolitan Tabernacle with C. H. Spurgeon [so Spurgeon's nephew], and himself a Baptist pastor.

Charming, retaining original envelope, a 2pp. A very affectionate letter between a wife and husband who have been separated. Apparently J. A. has been working with the soldier's in Surrey while Emily remained at Cambridge. 

She says, sweetly:

". . . I did not fully express my pleasure at the little bit I know of your morning's work with the soldiers. I have thought so much about it since. I am so glad darling. I wish I knew all the details. I love to hear of your doings at the end of the day & I often which I could show my sympathies in a more practical way. "

"Now my 'bestest' I must just say goodnight & breathe a prayer that God will bless & keep in His own safe keeping my darling Hubbieman."
