Boteh motifs are one of the most iconic and enduring symbols in Persian textile design—often recognized as the precursor to the modern paisley. Typically shaped like a curved teardrop or seed, the boteh carries layered meanings depending on tradition and region. It’s commonly interpreted as a symbol of growth, fertility, and the cycle of life, but can also represent a flame, a leaf, or a cypress tree—all tied to vitality and resilience.
Please note that we do our very best to honestly depict our products. Our Persian collection of rugs are vintage, handmade one-of-a-kind pieces thus it is not uncommon for variations in wear, color, and dimensions.
