We all want a faith that is strong and solid and that reaches to the sky. The life of Paul shows us that it is possible to have a faith that goes SKY HIGH.
_______
“We work together to serve God. You are like God’s field. You are like his building.” 1 Corinthians 3:9 (NIRV)
Basement
Scripture: Acts 7:34-8:1, The Stoning of Stephen
When the crew starts working on building our tower, they start going in the wrong direction! They are building the basement level. When we first meet Saul, he is definitely going in the wrong direction, persecuting those who love Jesus, rather than becoming one of them.
Objective: Kids will say “I will go in the right direction by putting my trust in Jesus.”
Foundation
Scripture: Acts 9:1-19, Saul's Conversion
A solid foundation ensures that our sky high tower will be strong and will not be shaky. Saul lived on a foundation of following rules and punishing those who did not.. But when he encountered Jesus, he realized that Jesus was the only solid foundation to build his life upon.
Objective: Kids will say “Jesus is my solid foundation.”
Balcony
Scripture: Acts 9:19-25, Saul Escapes
Stepping out onto the balcony of our high rise, we get an incredible view. When people were trying to kill Saul because he spoke about Jesus, his friends took him out on the balcony and lowered him in a basket to the ground below. God was giving Saul a view of his incredible love and protection.
Objective: Kids will say “I will rest in God's love and protection.”
Windows
Scripture: Acts 13:1-5, Paul and Barnabas Sent
Our high rise has plenty of windows to see all the amazing things around them. While the church was celebrating their amazing God, the Holy Spirit gave them a view of his plan: to send Saul (Paul) and Barnabas into the world to share Jesus with everyone.
Objective: Kids will say “I want the world to see Jesus clearly.”
“May you have power together with all the Lord’s holy people to understand Christ’s love. May you know how wide and long and high and deep it is.” Ephesians 3:18 (NIRV)
Heating & Cooling Vents
Scripture: Acts 16:6-10, Paul's Vision
Sometimes our high rise building is given cold air to cool it down and sometimes it is given warm air to heat things up. It all comes through the air vents. Paul felt like things had cooled down when God prevented him and his companions from going to Asia, but a special vision showed him that things were just starting to warm up.
Objective: Kids will say “I will go wherever God leads me.”
Floors - Levels
Scripture: Acts 16:11-15, Lydia's Conversion
Our high rise has many different levels, called floors. Each floor has different places to explore. When Paul went to Macedonia, there were different levels or purposes to his trip. One of those was meeting Lydia. When Lydia met Paul, she realized that Jesus wanted to take her life to another level.
Objective: Kids will say “I will tell others about Jesus and trust Him to change their lives.”
Steel Frame
Scripture: Acts 16:16-34, Paul and Silas in Prison
Our high rise is solid because its frame is made of solid steel. It is not easily shaken. Paul and Silas had faith that was not easily shaken. Even when they found themselves in prison, they still prayed and praised God. And once again, God came through, shaking the walls of the prison and giving Paul and Silas another chance to share Jesus.
Objective: Kids will say “I will put my faith in Jesus and not be shaken.”
Antenna
Scripture: Acts 18:1-11, Another Vision
Like many high rise towers, ours has an antenna at the top, drawing in radio signals and other communications from all over. Paul received several communications from God in the form of visions. In this vision, God encourages Paul to keep preaching about Jesus, that despite the highs and lows, Paul will be lifting the name of Jesus sky high!
Objective: Kids will say “I will lift the name of Jesus sky high!”
