Rare and desirable true first edition, first printing, of Herbert's epic science-fiction novel.
Originally published as two separate serials in Analog magazine, it won the inaugural Nebula Award for Best Novel and would tie with Roger Zelazny's This Immortal for the Hugo Award in 1966.
Fine examples have now fetched over $12,000.00 at auction more than once.
Herbert, Frank [1920-1986]. Dune. Philadelphia. Chilton. 1965.
This the original true first edition, first printing by Chilton, yes "that" Chilton, of Chilton Car Manual fame. Herbert could not find a traditional publisher.
This copy textually very good, including retention of the original map. This special example bound in full "sand" calf with a custom Dune binding. Text block very lightly trimmed
