"Westwood
Beulah Hill
Upper Norwood

July 7 1885

Dear Sir,

Does the church in the Masonic Hall propose to take over the land from my & my brother? Money was advanced by me on the condition that the ground was transferred to our names. It seems to me that the first step should be to submit to me a list of gentleman willing to become trustees to whom we might transfer the land.

Then they could proceed to build, & I would transfer the Building shares. Does not this strike you as being the proper order of proceeding? I trust the Lord's blessing will rest upon every step that is taken, & I believe it will. I have no sort of objection to make - far from it: Only I would have you act in a business-like manner.

First get your ground, or you will be building on my land. Not that I shall rob you have it, but legally you will be acting unwisely.

Get the trust-deed, & I will execute the transfer to your trustees, & hand over the building shraes.

My kindest regards to the church & to yourself. I shall rejoice to see this matter on the move.

Yours Heartily
C. H. Spurgeon"

Very good, crisp state. Superbly preserved.
