A beautiful copy of one of the most influential Evangelical works on the Lord's Supper issued during the 19th century. This an early second edition, it was reprinted again and again. Bickersteth [1786-1850] was a prominent minister among those second-generation recipients of the Great Awakening. He traveled for the Church Missionary Society, was its Secretary for 7 years, was active in the Society for the Conversion of Jews, etc.
Bickersteth, Edward. A Treatise on the Lord's Supper: Designed as a A Guide and Companion to the Holy Communion. In Two Parts. Second Edition. London. Printed for L. B. Seeley. 1822. 295pp.
Very attractive full calf binding with raised bands, contrasting morocco label and gold tooled compartments. Some light to moderate rubbing, but very sound and attractive. First few leaves a bit handled, but nothing significant. Very faint tide mark in final gatherings of the book. An old pencil price of $225.00 on ffep.
