Clearing storms in the mountainous Col de I'Alup area to the south east of Annecy in the Haute-Savoie of France provided wet but compelling views of the rock faces and mountain peaks of the French Alps as they emerged from the clouds and mist. The green fields in the foreground are grazing paddocks for the cows from whose milk the famous Reblochon cheese is made. These grazing lands are typically small family owned and run plots of grazeable land hemmed in between the cliffs of these alpine mountains. As we wandered across these verdant fields, the clearing clouds revealed a "Hiding Giant" of the Alps.
