This one began with the night sky.

My husband spends hours photographing the heavens, capturing galaxies, nebulae, and distant light most of us never slow down long enough to notice. Watching him process those incredible images has become a huge source of inspiration for me, and this pendant immediately reminded me of one of those glowing celestial formations suspended in deep space.

The enamel centerpiece feels like a tiny universe all its own — layers of blues, floating orb-like patterns, and a burst of golden light at the center like a distant star coming alive in the darkness. One of the things I love most about enamel work is that no two pieces can ever truly be recreated. The kiln creates reactions and flowing patterns that even I cannot completely control, making each firing beautifully unpredictable.

To continue the cosmic feeling, I designed the necklace with an eclectic blend of beads and textures that remind me of planets, stardust, and celestial movement. One bead even looks like a tiny Earth suspended among the stars.

Every link in the adjustable chain was handcrafted from lightweight non-tarnishing aluminum, allowing the necklace to remain comfortable while still making a bold artistic statement. The piece hangs at approximately 24" and can be adjusted to different lengths depending on how you choose to wear it.

The reverse side is backed with textured wellness copper — a metal long associated with grounding energy, vitality, and balance. Copper has been appreciated throughout history not only for its beauty, but also for its conductive and antimicrobial qualities. Many who wear copper jewelry feel deeply connected to its warmth and natural energy.

From cutting the metal to building layers of enamel through multiple kiln firings, every part of this necklace was created by hand in my Appalachian studio.
