A fine Civil War soldier issue pocket Bible; the standard edition printed the American Bible Society and distributed to fit perfectly in the pocket of a Union issue uniform.

This copy retains a very attractive, and rather unusual, blue and red lithographed full plate from the New York Bible society with waving flag at head, then "To the Defenders of their Country!" Presented by the New York Bible Society. 1864, followed by an extract from Psalm 91 and a sequence of Bible readings thought most of interest to soldiers in need.
