An excellent copy of a work that is rather unusual on the market. Cheever [1807-1890] was pastor of one of the most influential churches in New England, the Congregational Church of the Puritans in New York. From its pulpit, he was a leading voice for the original religious intent of America, including equal rights for enslaved African Americans. He published two works on the subject.

The present work is entirely in keeping with his perspective; that the powers of the world to come are presently transformative for both individuals and communities of faith as Christ realizes them in His people. An excellent read that deserves broader distribution. A very balanced and deeply spiritual approach to understanding the present impact of eschatology. If I had to guess, I would say he was a soft post-millennialist.

Very good. Rare in any state. The best example we anticipate ever handling. The cloth is crisp and clean, blind and gold stamping still fresh, very minor rubbing. Text is bright and clean with only the very slightest foxing at the extremities.
