This image was captured by pure chance. After circumnavigating Uluru under leaden skies, at days end we were returning to our base at Yulara, but spotting a small crack in the clouds on the western horizon, decided to wait till sunset to see what might transpire. We were waiting under light rain, when all of a sudden a golden light came across the landscape from the west, lighting the rock and crowning it with a double rainbow. This is one of a handful of images we were able to capture in the two or so minutes that the vision lasted. Uluru (Ayers Rock) is a sandstone monolith located in the Uluru Kata-Tjuta National Park in Australia's Northern Territory.
