A very reasonable and attractive set of Robert Haldane's classic on the Authority and Inspiration of the Scriptures. These [Robert and his brother James] were leaders in the revivalist movement in Scotland after Whitefield and previous to Robert Murray M'Cheyne, Horatius and Andrew Bonar, etc., They caused quite a disruption when they joined the Scotch Baptists [1808]. Today he is remembered for their extensive revival missions throughout Scotland, the important revival at the University of Geneva, and his exegetical works, which Spurgeon highly recommended. His work on Romans has been continually in print [Banner of Truth] and contains commendations by Thomas Chalmers, C. H. Spurgeon, and D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones.
