Remarkable FDR Autograph Dual Signed with His Mother, Sara

Certainly an uncommon FDR find This first-day cover features a dark, fully legible autograph of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, as well as the signature of his mother, Sara Roosevelt (d. 1941). The original envelope is postmarked from Los Angeles, 1932, with the "Via Airmail" stamp. It also showcases a spectacular color vignette commemorating the 1932 Olympics. The vibrant color and intricate artwork immediately caught our attention, making it a must-have for our collection. It's that special.

The 1932 Olympics were a significant event for the United States, with the Summer Games held in Los Angeles and the Winter Games in Lake Placid. The Summer Games ceremonies took place at the newly built Los Angeles Coliseum. These Games were also notable for being the first to introduce the concept of an Olympic Village, where athletes could stay during the competition. Located in Baldwin Hills, a part of Los Angeles, the village allowed athletes from all countries to live together and socialize during the Games.

The United States led all countries with a total of 110 medals, including 44 gold. Italy finished in second place with 36 total medals, while Germany and Sweden tied for third, each winning 24 medals. This Olympics introduced Babe Didrikson of the U.S., who won two gold and one silver in the track and field events.

This First Day Cover-Cachet offering is incredibly scarce, making it a true gem for collectors. It’s rare to find such an uncommon FDR piece, and the addition of his mother’s signature only increases its uniqueness. If you’re a collector who appreciates special, signed presidential items, this is definitely one for your consideration. FDR autographs are a must-have for any serious collector, and the inclusion of his mother’s signature makes this piece most likely one-of-a-kind. These are the types of rare and unique collectibles we specialize in and actively seek out.
