Guar gum is obtained from the pulverised endosperm of Cyanmopsis tetragonolobus, a member of the Leguminosae plant family. Guar plants are grown mostly in India and Pakistan between July and December. During harvest, seeds are taken from the plant's pod and crushed into guar gum.
Guar gum is water soluble.
When adding it to a combination, start with tiny amounts and gradually increase. Stir thoroughly after each addition.
Adding Guar Gum too rapidly or in excessive quantities might cause it to clump or gel. It works well in freezing mixes, but not in high temperatures or pH levels (above or below pH 5).
Do not use if your formula contains Borax or
Calcium.
