Fear, released on 1 October 1974, is Welsh musician John Cale's fourth solo album, his first for Island Records. It marks the start of a productive period for Cale, who released three albums in just over a year while also producing Patti Smith's Horses (1975). Cale performed vocals, keyboards, guitars, viola, violin, and bass, joined by Richard Thompson, Brian Eno, Phil Manzanera, and others. "Gun" features a unique guitar solo by Manzanera and Eno, with Eno processing the guitar in real-time. The cover was photographed by Keith Morris.
